New CD release at Barnes & Noble in New York
Barnes & Noble bookstore (Broadway and 66th street) will host the launch of a new CD, produced by Ani Gogova, on February 3, 2010 at 5:30pm. “Green Sneakers”, performed by Jesse Blumberg, baritone and Miami String quartet, is a world premiere recording of Ricky Ian Gordon’s most personal and intimate work, written in search of solace from grief after the loss of his partner, Jeffrey Grossi, to AIDS, and following their last few months together. Hailed as “a triumph”, ”superb mini-opera”, “a masterpiece” by Opera Today, American Record Guide and others, the piece becomes a cathartic experience that leaves the audience transformed and uplifted. At this event Ricky Ian Gordon and Jesse Blumberg will perform selections from the CD, as well as talk about the piece. Ricky Ian Gordon will read from the text/libretto and talk about the genesis of the piece.
