The Bulgarian Cultural Salon in New York is now five years old. For this occasion we invite you to our first science and humanities panel to discuss the latest trends in science and the humanities. The panel will feature two scientists and two academicians from the Humanities: Dr. Svetoslav Zahariev, Associate Professor in Mathematics at CUNY, molecular biologist Dr. Milen Kirilov, Dr. Victoria Tzotzkova, Research Assistant at the Music Department of Harvard University and Prof. Paul Oppenheimer, the Head of CUNY’s City College English Department. Inspired by the latest book by Prof. Roger Penrose, the panel will touch upon questions like “What can fashionable ideas, blind faith, or pure fantasy possibly have to do with the scientific quest to understand the universe? Are [scientists and artists] immune to mere trends, dogmatic beliefs, or flights of fancy?” After the panel, we will celebrate the Salon’s birthday with cake and wine.
