“Songs My Mother Taught Me”
An evening of songs for voice, cello and piano
Please join us for a delightful concert this coming Wednesday, December 1, at 7:30pm at the Bulgarian Consulate General in New York. The program will be performed by Bulgarian pianist Vlada Yaneva, Armenian mezzo-soprano Solange Merdinian and American cellist Ashley Bathgate. The three musicians bring together melodies and rhythms from their cultural heritage and present folk songs from each country in their original transcriptions for this ensemble. The program will also include music by DeFalla, Schumann, Brahms and Dvorak. Through the poetry of the voice, the expression of the cello and the sonority of the piano the performers will take you around the world exploring the most intimate and ancient form of human art – the song.
The Bulgarian Consulate General is located at 121E 62nd street in Manhattan, between Park and Lexington Avenues. This concert is free of charge and is part of the Bulgarian Concert Evenings in New York Series which proudly supports Bulgarian musicians and young talents.
